City Palace An enchanting blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of the Kachhwaha clan of Rajputs. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum. The complex comprises of many structures, courtyards, gardens and buildings. Jantar Mantar The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is the most renowned among the five observatories established by Sawai Jai Singh II in the first half of 18th century. Located close to the gate of the famous City Palace of Jaipur, the name 'Jantar Mantar' is derived from Sanskrit word 'Yantra Mantra,’ which means instruments and formulae. One should not miss to visit the largest stone observatory in the world, which stands as a witness to the wisdom of the former age in today’s jet age.
Hawa Mahal The Hawa Mahal, recognized as "Palace of Winds" is a major tourist attraction in Jaipur. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, it has become one of the major sights of Jaipur. The palace is shaped like a pyramid and is a five-storied building, with number of small windows and screens, with arched roofs. The Hawa Mahal is a popular place among visitors to Rajasthan. The Hawa Mahal is a great example of the Rajputana architecture, which was strongly influenced by Mughal style of planning and architecture.
